Two New Character Poster Banners for The Avengers

by Aaron Einhorn
Marvel studios has unveiled two new awesome looking banners for The Avengers, each comprised of four posters showcasing one of our major cast members, highlighted in the familiar “A” emblem.

The first banner shows Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner (with a green tint, suggesting his alter ego), Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. The second banner shows us Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.

Are there a lot of new details here? Not at all. But does it look awesome? You bet.

The film stars Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Phil Coulson and Maria Hill, and Stellan Skarsgard as Dr. Selvig.

  1. Calendril says:

Why is everyone facing the right except Nick Fury? Seems intentional.

  2. Aaron says:

Could be. Sam Jackson often wants something that makes him different from the rest of the group.

Honestly, several of the characters seem like they were facing right but are in the process of turning back to the left. So, that could be part of it. Part of it could be wanting to show the eyepatch (which is one of the things that changes it from being Samuel L. Jackson into being Nick Fury).

You could just as easily point out that everyone else gets a full front or profile shot, but Black Widow is showing off her “assets”. Or that everyone else has their full face visible, but Chris Evans is hidden behind his cowl and his shield-throwing arm. Or that everyone else has normal lighting, while Mark Ruffalo has a weird green light on him.

Honestly, I think it’s just a style thing, and trying to read anything in to the way Nick Fury is standing is just being silly.
