I’ve long been a fan of the Justice Society and how they have kept the Golden Age characters relevant to the present day happenings in the DC Universe. The “legacy” heroes that populate the book fascinate the heck out of me, and I really enjoyed seeing how tensions arose between differing philosophies (Old School vs. modern vigilantism) during the Gog storyline.
So, it is with a great deal of anticipation, but some trepidation, that I react to the news coming out of San Diego from DC Universe: The Source that the JSA is splitting – both the creative team and the roster itself.
Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges, who have just finished their first arc in JSA are splitting the team in to two books, with Willingham staying on JSA, while Sturges creates JSA All Stars with artist Freddie E. Williams III.
The JSA All Stars book will focus on younger members of the team who follow Magog’s lead for a more pro-active approach.
More details will flow from the convention, but in the meantime, check out the cover art for the various JSA related titles.
