The Batman of the future has returned in his now ongoing comic series, and we’ve seen Dick Grayson’s identity come under scrutiny. In Batman Beyond #4 (on stands now), we get a peek inside the mind of Terry McGinnis’ friend, confidant, and computer expert, Max, while Terry masquerades as Nightwing to save Dick Grayson’s secret.

Having read the whole issue, I have to say that it’s interesting to me seeing elements of current continuity be incorporated into the future world of Batman Beyond. The original cartoon kind of had a “timeless” element to it, in that it didn’t follow any one aspect of continuity too closely – as witnessed by the walking Barbara Gordon. It’ll be interesting to see how following modern comic continuity, while being set 30 years in the future, affects the title.
