Speeding Bullets: Wednesday, August 4, 2010

from the Comic Hero News staff
There’s a lot that happens in the world of superheroes everyday, and we at Comic Hero News don’t have the ability to write up a full story about everything, as much as we’d like to. So, we bring you Speeding Bullets – for all of those pieces of news that are fired our way that are worth noticing, but don’t merit a full story in their own right.

  • Watchmen producer Lloyd Levin has acquired the rights to adapt Matt Wagner’s Mage to the big screen, according to a recent report in Variety.
  • Matthew Vaughn told MTV’s Splashpage that X-Men: First Class is “not a reboot,” and is in-continuity with Bryan Singer’s X-Men.
  • Marvel.com has just released an awesome looking piece of promotional art for Avengers 4.
  • Anyone who has fears about the appearance of Sinestro in the Martin Campbell-directed Green Lantern needn’t worry, Mark Strong told MTV’s Splashpage. According to him, the classic look for the character will be maintained, despite some questionable concept images.
  • DC Universe: The Source has a preview of Doom Patrol 13, which is on stands today.
  • Despite some tension between director Stephen Sommers and the studio, it seems like he will be back to direct the sequel to G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra, according to the latest report from TheWrap.
  • Yesterday, we told you that Danny Elfman was out as the composer for The Green Hornet. Today, ThePlaylist blog brings us the word that James Newton Howard will be the new composer for the Seth Rogen-starring film.
  • Smallville super-site, KryptonSite, has word about a couple of major guest characters who will be appearing for the show’s tenth season. First off, Bradley Stryker will be appearing on the show as Floyd Lawton, better known to the DC Universe as the assassin Deadshot. Next up, Sahar Biniaz will be appearing on the show as Hawkman’s long lost love Shayera (who was referenced in the episode Absolute Justice). There’s no word as to whether or not she’ll be appearing as Hawkgirl or not, but what we do know is that Michael Shanks will be back on hand to reprise his role as Carter Hall/Hawkman.
