SDCC: Superhero Film and TV Developments

by Aaron Einhorn
So, there have been several recent announcements about superhero film and TV projects that are worth noting, even if none of them are all that huge.

First off, per a press release from The WB, Kelly Hu (who has previously appeared on The Vampire Diaries and in X2) has been cast as China White for the CW’s Arrow. China White is a drug cartel leader who Oliver Queen fights against when he is first marooned and develops his archery abilities.

Next, The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Jeremy Slater has been tapped by Fox to write the reboot of Fantastic Four. It also seems like FF won’t go into production until after both The Wolverine and the sequel to X-Men: First Class.

And speaking of The Wolverine, Deadline tells us that Jessica Biel will be joining that film, playing the role of Viper. I’m actually surprised that character is covered under Fox’s license, and isn’t a part of the Captain America rights, but c’est la vie. Conflicting reports from on-site at Comic Con suggest, however, that the role is not yet a done deal – but is still likely.
