At this year’s Cop o’ Joe panel at Comic-Con, a few ideas were touched on that had been announced, and a little bit of news came out as well.
It started by addressing Marvel’s Point One series of comics, which will be starting in February. It will address where the characters are in their storylines, where they’ll be going in the coming year, and try to bring in people who haven’t been keeping up.
They’d been teasing a character’s rebirth, and revealed that it would be Cable. Cable Reborn will be shipping in December.
They’ll also be releasing comics under the Season One banner, acting as a jump off point for characters in a more complete book, re-illustrated.
We’ll be seeing Fantastic Four in February, Daredevil in March, X-Men in April and Spider-Man in May of 2012.
Marvel and Disney have the John Carter film coming out later this year, and they’ll be releasing a prequel comic starting in October.
They’re also doing a licensed Castle graphic novel, coming in September.
We were treated to a trailer for the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, coming in 2012. It showed very high production values, and is apparently the first Marvel animation being handled by Marvel specifically.
During the Q&A session, one fan asked about future events concerning Deadpool, and the existence of a creature made of parts of Deadpool cut off from previous fights was made know. Apparently he’ll be called Evil Deadpool, without the memories or personality of Wade Wilson. Not sure how you determine which one is the evil one.
Another question came up asking if we’d see more SHIELD Agent Coulsen from the films, possibly outside of the movies now. Joe produced a video clip on screen from a short that will be included on the Thor DVD and Blu Ray discs called “The Consultant.” During the clip, the screen went out and Clark Gregg (agent Coulsen’s actor) came out to talk about the clips coming out on Thor as well as another disc (presumably Captain America) down the line.
He’ll also portray the character in the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, installed as principal in Peter’s high school. Should be a lot of fun.
