NBC Universal has released a free promotional game upcoming for the Scott Pilgrim film for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
The gameplay has a lot in common with it’s Punch-Out name, and 8-bit themed graphics to match. Rather than using on-screen buttons, high and low punches are done by tapping the top or bottom of the screen, dodging done using the motion sensor, and special move done by swiping diagonally.
As a game, it stands up fairly well, as we haven’t seen a whole lot of this type of game on the App Store. Opponents comprise the seven evil exes from the film, each with their own special moves.
Story is presented in basic text form, but with plenty of other promotional items, film trailer, gallery, and social networking links. The audio is generic chiptunes fare, with a lot of audio clips from the film injected in as well.
