Will Jem Outrageously Return?

If you grew up in the eighties, you knew about Jem and the Holograms. You probably really liked the show, even if you didn’t admit it to your friends. And if you were a girl tired of trying to find a character to identify with during G.I. Joe and Thundercats (there was always one – which didn’t help if you had more than one girl playing), JEM was a goldmine.
Much like G.I. Joe and Transformers, Jem and the Holograms is owned by Hasbro, who have recently come to realize that when they make a film based on their toy lines, even if the film is terrible, toy sales skyrocket. Hasbro has a six-film deal in place with Universal, and thanks to Pajiba, we hear that Jem and the Holograms may be the next toy line set to get the big screen treatment.
Things are very early right now, but some sort of new life for Jem and the Holograms is in development, either as a film or possibly as a new television series. Peter Barsocchini, who wrote all four High School Musical films is set to be involved, either as a producer or possibly as a screenwriter.
I’m thrilled. I’d love to see Jem and the Holograms get the big screen treatment. And even with the bad eighties animation, I still rock out to the theme music whenever I hear it.
In fact, let’s leave you with the music to wrap up this story.
