Batwoman’s Origin Is Revealed in Detective Comics 858

At a time when I’m finding the Batman family of titles to be some of the best things on the comic stands – which is odd, since I’m not the biggest Batman fan – I’m hard pressed to think of a book that has been as consistently good as Detective Comics. Greg Rucka’s writing for both Batwoman and The Question, and his establishment of a supporting cast for each, has been astonishingly good. Add in the magnificent artwork from J.H. Williams III, and you have one of the best values for your comics dollar today.
In Detective Comics 858, we get to go behind the story of Kate Kane and her family to discover how the socialite ended up becoming Batwoman. We also find out more about Alice’s past. On top of that, we get more of Renee Montoya’s search for a missing girl in her new role as the Question.
