One of the best things for me about the return of Superboy is seeing how Conner has dealt with the realities of “returning from the dead”, as he finds a new life in Smallville, figures out what his relationship with Superman (and Lex Luthor) should be, and reconnecting with the other people in his life. I loved how the team of Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul handled issue 2, where Conner and Cassandra Sandsmark (Wonder Girl) reconnected, and now in this week’s upcoming issue 3, Conner reunites with his best friend, Tim Drake (formerly Robin, and now known as Red Robin).

But does the reunion go well? Tim has had a rough time since Conner left, losing both his fathers, his costumed identity, and watching his “brother” choose someone else to be the new Robin. It’s possible that some of the events that have occurred during Kon-El’s absence will drive a rift between the Boy of Steel and the former Boy Wonder.
