Batman: The Unseen Introduces The Newest Bat-Villain

Batman has so many different hats to wear that it’s easy for a writer to forget about one or more of them. After all, he’s a world-class martial artist, a billionaire, a gifted inventor, a master tactician, and, oh yeah, the world’s greatest detective. That last part of his identity is often forgotten – and understandably so – it’s hard to write a suitable Batman mystery.
That doesn’t mean that Doug Moench and Kelley Jones aren’t up to the challenge, however, and they’re creating Batman: The Unseen, a twice-monthly, five-issue miniseries to explore that as they introduce the newest rogue to face off against Batman, a skinless man who vanishes after he commits the grisly murders that have brought him to Batman’s attention.
If the description isn’t enough for you, we fortunately have some preview pages, thanks to DC Universe: The Source. Check them out below!
Batman: The Unseen 1 hits stands this Wednesday, October 7, 2009.

Is this an Elseworlds? That doesn’t look like Dick.
I think – DC wasn’t real clear – but I think it’s an “Untold tale of the Batman”, so it takes place during Bruce’s run, but is considered to be in-canon (although where it fits exactly is a bit unclear).
And re-looking at it, right there on page one of the comic “A Lost Tale of Bruce Wayne as Batman”. So, yeah, I’m guessing it is definitely a part of New Earth continuity, and not an Elseworlds.
