Speeding Bullets: Thursday, September 3, 2009

There’s a lot that happens in the world of superheroes everyday, and we at Comic Hero News don’t have the ability to write up a full story about everything, as much as we’d like to. So, we bring you Speeding Bullets – for all of those pieces of news that are fired our way that are worth noticing, but don’t merit a full story in their own right.
- Let’s start the morning off with some sketch concept art of fan-favorite X-Men member, Rogue, from upcoming episodes of Wolverine and the X-Men, courtesy of Marvel.com.
- After temporarily stopping production due to money issues, the Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is back in production, according to Variety. Despite the fact that Disney claims to have had nothing to do with the resumption, it seems an unlikely coincidence if their involvement didn’t have, at the minimum, something to do with it.
- The second issue (episode?) of the Spider-Woman Motion Comic is available on iTunes today. As a way of celebrating the reception of the motion comic, Marvel has made the first episode available for free on their website. You can also check out a preview of episode two, thanks to Marvel.com below.
- Although we’ve already examined all of this list, TV Guide has a decent little run-down of the cameos who will be appearing on Smallville this season, including more details about the Wonder Twins, Green Arrow’s sidekick, Speedy, and hints about which members of the Justice Society will show up in Geoff John’s “Society” episode.
- Want to know who won’t be showing on Smallville this season? Lana Lang. But fans of Kristin Kreuk needn’t worry, she’ll be showing up on another superhero-esque show this year. Kreuk will be appearing on Chuck, possibly as a new love interest for our title character. Of course, “woman who is interested in Chuck” tends to be synonymous with “Fulcrum agent,” so don’t expect this to go well for Mr. Bartowski (not that being intrested in Kreuk ever went so well for Clark Kent on Smallville either…)
- In the “Comic Book News That Has Nothing To Do With Superheroes” category, we’ve got two entries today. The first is that a sequel to 30 Days of Night, based off the IDW Publishing series, is moving forward. The sequel film, titled 30 Days of Night: Dark Days has hired Ben Ketai to direct. Fans of the 30 Days… comic will recognized Ketai’s name – he wrote two different 30 Days… miniseries, titled Blood Trails and Dust to Dust.
- And to finish out the category, Variety is reporting that British director Stephen Frears will be directing a live-action adaptation of Posy Simmond’s graphic novel Tamara Drewe. Gemma Arterton will star as Posy, alongsides a cast that includes Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam, Luke Evans, Bill Camp and Tamsin Greig. In the comic, Posy is a flirtatious young woman who disrupts the life of her small country village by stirring up passions.
- Finally, we have some more character models from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, thanks to Marvel.com. Today, we have two founding members of the New Warriors, both of whom are former Avengers, Justice and Firestar.
